Congratulations to PhD student Enrique Sanchez who was awarded the best poster presentation prize at the recent 7th Chemical Nanoscience Symposium in Newcastle (CNSN-7). The meeting also saw our collaborator Dr Gemma-Louise Davies take home a prize for best talk by an early career researcher. Congratulations!
Akansha Goyal has joined our group as a visiting researcher, as part of her Erasmus program. Akansha will spend 5 months with us, working on metal oxide nanoparticles as high voltage cathodes for Li-ion batteries. Welcome Akansha!
Congratulations to Josefa and Marco who have been awarded travel bursaries from the Glasgow and West of Scotland Local Section. Josefa will attend the International Battery Association meeting in Nantes in March 2016, while Marco will travel to Chicago for the 18th International Meeting on Lithium Batteries. Congratulations!
Congratulations to Josefa who has been awarded a travel bursary to attend the RSC Energy Sector Early Career Chemists event to be held at the Royal Society of Chemistry in February 2016. Congratulations!
Welcome to Dr Esther Rani Aluri who joins us as a postdoctoral researcher from Saskatchewan, Canada. Esther completed her PhD there in 2015 with Professor Andrew Grosvenor, where she investigated solid-state materials for nuclear waste immobilization applications using synchrotron facilitated X‑ray techniques. Before that, Esther was a junior research Fellow at IIT Madras in India.… Continue reading Esther joins the group
Welcome to Dr Hany El-Shinawi who has joined our group from Mansoura University in Egypt. Hany completed his PhD in 2010, working with Prof Colin Greaves at Birmingham on solid state synthesis of perovskites and was a Humboldt fellow in Prof Jürgen Janek’s group in Germany, where he worked on electrode materials for lithium batteries.… Continue reading Hany joins the group
Welcome to Enrique Sanchez Perez who has joined our group from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain. Enrique is starting his PhD with us and will be working on the design and synthesis of magnetic nanocomposite materials as treatments for wooden artefacts taken from the Mary Rose. This is a Leverhulme funded project, in… Continue reading Enrique joins the group
